The surprise…
First of all i have to start with the 24th of April. I just came home from work in the evening and was eating for dinner. After that i rechecked my E-Mails to find an e-mail from Veeam where i have been chosen to win the complimentary full conference pass to VeeamON 2019 !!!
I was totally surprised and really honored !
After I had told my employer about it, I was also allowed to book flights and a hotel to participate at the VeeamON 2019 ! My friend and teammate Florian Raack was also travelling to Miami for VeeamON. As if that wasn’t enough, we also had a special guest on our trip: VannyVanguard !!

VeeamON conference
Let’s focus on what happened during the 3 days at VeeamON.
This was my first time ever to attend a VeeamON event and I was extremely curious about what to expect.
The conference itself is scheduled for 3 days, whereby 2 days are full of breakout sessions. On monday the 20th of May the conference started with the Registration Desk.

For me, this was awesome as i had the chance to meet all the people out of the vCommunity that I had only written to before.

Breakout and General Sessions
Regarding the breakout and general sessions I can say that they were perfect for me. That’s exactly what I expected. Deep technical breakout sessions where you could really look under the hood.

I also liked the special session of the Vanguards very much. It’s nice to see, that Veeam is involving the members of their community program in such an event!

General Sessions
The general session themselves were outstanding aswell. I really enjoyed the way everything was presented and all the new and upcoming features. Like i said before, i have never been to any VeeamON conference but this one was simply amazing !

During the live keynote, the Rickatron dumped his laptop in water just to show that his previous Veeam Agent Backup will perfectly restore to a VMware VM. This was a great show !

vBreakfast
On the second VeeamON day we met for a nice vBreakfast with Shane, Brian, Nathan, Florian, Calvin, Sebastian, Adrian and Fred.
By the way this was my first time eating Eggs Benedict and i really enjoyed them !
Summary
All in all, i really enjoyed the conference from the beginning until the great party ! The food and drinks at the party were really amazing. There were various “locale stations” with different food and drinks, which was kind of difficult to try everthing 🙂
I’m extremely happy to have participated in the conference and to have met so many great people. The next VeeamON will take place in Las Vegas at the Aria Hotel, which i will hopefully attend again after my outstanding experience in Miami !
